By Jake Andrade.
Jake was thirteen years old when he was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer, called Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in March 2016.
Following a bone marrow transplant in August 2016, and five years in remission, the leukaemia was thought to be "cured", until a shocking relapse in December 2021 at the age of nineteen.
Now in his second remission, My Leukaemia Fight provides a comprehensive account of Jake's six-year journey with AML, showing his experiences through both peadiatrics and adult life with cancer, two bone marrow transplants, a lengthy remission period in between, and his attempts to rebuild his life after cancer.
As well as attempting to put the general reader in the shoes of a cancer patient, this inspiring story can provide hope for patients and their families that it is possible to bounce back from a devastating cancer diagnosis.
